We’ve all heard many things about menopause, some true and others not. Well here are four menopausal myths that aren’t true.
Four Menopausal Myths That You May Believe!
Hi, I’m Kate, and I’m on a mission to empower midlife women at work, in business and to understand their health.
- Myth 1: Menopause only happens when you’re old. This is actually not true, while menopause usually happens in your late 40s and early 50s it can start in your teenage years! It’s rare but it does happen!
- Myth 2: It’s all about hot flushes. Again not true, there are up to 80 symptoms! You might have all of them or none of them, you might not even have a hot flush at all!
- Myth 3: “It’s natural” therefore you should put up with it. Not true! There is support there, from natural support to HRT. The most important thing is to get support.
- Myth 4: When you’re post menopause you will get no symptoms. This is not true either. After you’re through it you will still lack the female hormones so may well get some symptoms. Some do, some don’t – we are all different.
