About Kate Beavis

I am Kate Beavis, also known as Fearless at 50, and want everyone to design a life they want rather than what they are told to put up with.

I am a published author and writer on all things vintage.

I run Magpie Wedding and The ECO Wedding Shows – helping couples create a modern sustainable wedding.

I run The Indie Practice, supporting businesses with marketing strategies, training and done-for-you services.

I am also a menopause activist on TikTok, and support you to “wear what you want at any age”.

I do a lot – I’m a champion juggler!

Kate Beavis Vintage

I started out in the vintage world as a collector and enthusiast. I bought 1960s mini dresses as a teenager, teaming them up with Red or Dead shoes and wild hair. Calming down in my twenties, I started to collect homewares after discovering a piece of M’dina glass in a local charity shop. Now, happily married with a home full of mid century, I own Magpie Wedding as well as writing about vintage for magazines and my own blog which was runner up in 2017 Amara Interior Awards and a finalist in the 2015 Cosmopolitan Blog Awards. I am also the Bedfordshire Business Woman of the Year.

In 2013, my first book “Style Your Modern Vintage Home was published through FW Media. It takes the readers through from the 1920s to 1990s, focusing on buying, restoring and styling. With a foreword by Paloma Faith, a top 30 ranking on Amazon and selling worldwide, I have continued to write for various publications including being the Wedding Editor for Vintage Life and creating a monthly upcycling feature for Reloved. My work has appeared in Closer, Homes and Antiques, Prima, Homes and Gardens, The Metro, The Lady, Inside Crochet, Mollie Makes, Homestyle, The Daily Mail to name a few. I am also a Huffington Post writer.

I have appeared on television and radio, including sharing my buying tips on The Lorraine Show (ITV) and  winning The French Collection for Channel 4: where I bought industrial and vintage furniture in France, upcycled it at home and sold for a profit in Bristol, UK. I have also been interviewed for Channel 4 News as an expert on vintage weddings and appeared on This Morning and on Talk Radio.

I am the company director of the original UK and award winning Magpie Weddingrunning wedding fairs across the UK and the editor of a wedding blog and directory.

As Director and Founder of The Indie Practice, I help creative indie businesses get noticed. Focusing on my 20 years retail experience I mentor on branding, marketing and social networking in the form of a membership group, workshops, coaching and support.

I  love fashion and am often seen wearing a 1960s dress on the school run. My vintage handbag is the envy of many and was even featured in Homes and Antiques magazine. I believe in living life with integrity, ensuring my handbag always matches my shoes and start my days with a hot lemon and ginger!

I have a English Rose kitchen (1950s) style. My partner and I have just restored it this year,I also love to add vintage pieces when found. I wondered if you would be interested for photos or research?

Hello Kate, I found your website while doing a Google search on myself (funny right). However, I love your blog, and I will be sharing it with a very large Facebook group of women who share an interest in vintage fashion as well (such a coincidence, really!). I’m sure many of the women in my group will appreciate your blog as well 🙂
