In todays vintage nostalgia blog read all of Your Vintage Life’s ‘Do you Remember’ posts from this weeks shorter list due to the bank holiday. So, what do you remember?
Who remembers celebrating the Queens Silver Jubilee? Did you have a street party? Did you bring out your table and chairs to make a giant party table? On 7th June 1977 streets and villages threw elaborate parties for all their residents to honour the Queen, decorated everything and anything in Union Jacks and generally had an amazing time. In London alone there were over 4000 street parties on the day.
Who watched and loved The Breakfast Club and then all the other Brat Pack films in the 1980s? We loved Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald was out style icon. We never had detention at school on a Saturday but if we did we wished it would of been like the Breakfast Club (including cool Simple Minds soundtrack).
Long before the Dark Knight we watched a simpler version of Batman complete with comic book ‘Kapows’ and ‘Pows’ added onto the screen and kitsch style. It started in 1966 and re-runs played through much of the 70’s and 80’s. Also without it our favourite childhood joke would of never existed either!
Q: How does Batman’s mother call him to dinner?

Hands up who had one of these? We at YVL had a Girls World but this Cher would have been even better! You did her make-up and curled her hair. If only *adopts Cher voice* We could turn back time…!!!
All of us remembered Boy George/Culture Club’s first performance on Top of The Pops – it was totally new and many were shocked by this new ‘gender bender’. Their first single ‘Do you really want to hurt me?’ became an international hit, reaching number 1 in the UK and music and style changed for ever.
