Our Vintage Life

Well what a week – we have spent most of it partying to celebrate the lovely Mr YVL turning 40. We had a fab “Come as you were” early 90s party last Saturday night filled with Hooch, Push Pops and Nirvana. The party has been featured on the party blog called Trawlergirl – go see! We will blog it also next week but it is worth getting a sneaky peek of it!

Mr YVL was spoilt rotten of course. At the party I gave him a 1991 Pop Swatch. He mentioned that he would like a watch but in all honestly he wouldn’t wear a “proper” watch. He told me hadn’t wore one since his Pop Swatch…so voila, he has been bought another one. It was in its original box too which was a turn up for the books.

Sarah (our marketing whizz) bought him a Percy Thrower gardening book and a body trimmer – check out the cool pictures on the packaging. My camera never lies and it appears at 4am on Sunday morning he, and his friends gave it a go but I better not share these with you!

On his actual birthday the children bought him these cool 70s polos from Dulcie Britain Vintage.

I bought him a trip to Berlin to scour for German pottery and my family bought him a day our driving a Morgan car. What a vintage 40th!

On the work front, Inside Crochet featured me and the book ”Style your modern vintage home”  in a great 2 page feature. I was so pleased with it: check out Wednesday’s blog for more details and pictures.

The Sun newspaper called us up on Tuesday to talk through our views on 90s fashion…..(boy it’s been a 90s week here!)

We are selling this weekend at The Vintage Home Show and I am signing books. We are busy getting ready for it, planning what to take. We have just bought another Ercol daybed but think that maybe this is too big to take…what do you think?

Looking forward to a rest soon…..maybe Christmas huh?
