Our Vintage Life

Wow, what a fortnight it has been. The biggest news is we went to the National Vintage Awards…and we won!!!! This really wasn’t expected as was clear in my terrible acceptance speech. I hadn’t planned what I wanted to say at all, and was a bit of a blithering wreck really!

Thankfully by the morning I had a chance to post a speech on Facebook which was coherent!

The event, run by Kate from the Vintage Directory was held at the Fazeley Studios in Birmingham. #Vintageglitz was the hash tag which really summed up the glamour of the event; beautiful frocks, tuxes and the best handbag collection was on show. I wore my 1950s vintage black prom dress and My YVL wore his early 1960s tux. I had my hair done by Sarah’s Doo-Wop Dos, which was much admired!

Lola Lamour hosted the event, singing a few songs in between handing out awards.

We won an actual award…..and some champers and lovely makeup from Le Keux Events.

We had fun and were very happy with the win, so a huge thank you to everyone that voted to get us shortlisted. Diablo Rose judged our category (Best Online Store: Home) and she chose us because “we made her want to burn her house down so she could fill it with all our vintage pieces!”. We say, you don’t need to go that far to get some great vintage homewares and furniture!

In other news:

Herbie won 2 head teachers awards: for creativity and reading. Usually he bawls his eyes out after these special assembly’s but this time he grinned from ear to ear.

The kids new favourite plaything is a set of 1960s eggcups. They are using them as boats for all their little people! I thought this was rather cute so thought I would share!

We are holding our first ever Fab sale which starts on Monday 8th July. We are so pleased to have been chosen as the site is full of drool worthy items with a great design flair. Over 40 vintage and retro homewares will be for sale for 2 weeks.

My publisher tweeted a photo this week of her holding my actual book…which means it is in the country!!!! This sent me into an excited mess, I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

I had a rare night out to a new Japanese restaurant. I tweeted my outfit..a lovely vintage late 70s Dianne Fres dress which I bought recently. I love it and have worn it ALOT!

Finally we started to move into our new premises. It is in a local business park which is ideal as we are near enough to the school as well as home. From August you will be able to visit us (by appointment only) and shop directly from us!! Watch this space for more detail.

Phew! It’s been a busy time here, and we are so looking forward to the future!

I love
