Our Fabulous Five: Healthy Living buys for vintage fans

It’s January – traditionally a time for new years resolutions, detoxes, new fitness regimes, healthy eating or maybe a month of no drinking.  We at Your Vintage Life don’t believe in new years resolutions as such – if you want to make a change in your life do it regardless of the month, and feeling guilty about stuff just has a negative effect, but after the excesses of the Christmas period a bit of healthy living can’t be a bad idea!

So, with that thought,  today’s blog features 5 vintage inspired ideas to help kick start 2014 feeling great!

1.  A blender can really create some great healthy juiced drinks.  Our director Kate (and having a dry January too!) is loving her juices at the moment and feeling great.  We love an Alessi Salif or a traditional glass juicer but for a great smoothie maker and juicer with retro style this Kenwood electric one is just right.

2. To keep all of that healthy food you’ve prepared fresh, sealable containers are a must.  Tupperware (and its generic vintage counterparts) is always a great choice and these retro 1970’s floral food containers in our favourite colour orange, make it even better.

3.  Abel and Cole make the most amazing weekly organic food boxes.   Fruit and veg boxes start at £13.25, are seasonal and can be tweaked to include your favourite types.  Dairy, bakery, soups and meats are also available delivered to your door.   If you can’t grow your own this is a great option.

4.  A retro gym bag always looks cool.  This 1970’s Slazenger one looks great and would be perfect whether used for gym gear or just your everyday stuff.

5.  And finally…for us, healthy living isn’t about fad diets or extreme fitness regimes – it’s about living well, work/life balance and taking time for you!  Pamper yourself this January and you’ll feel even better.  Take time to read a book, do a home beauty treatment or have a candlelit bubble bath.  We love chilling in the bath and this vintage style bath rack with space for a candle, book and a wine glass would help anyone relax!

We at YVL are trying to be healthier but still believe in treating yourself – it is the most depressing month of the year after all!  Enjoy January whatever you are doing, as ‘healthy’ living comes in lots of different forms…
