Yes summer is nearly here (although it is pouring down with rain right now!). We have bought our summer vintage frocks, donned our new retro sandals and are now focusing on the months ahead for our businesses as well as our holidays!

Here are our top tips to get ready for summer:

Car boot sales

Car boot sales are an excellent opportunity for buying, you do need to be early though. There are many more through the summer months, so pick and choose ones in different areas than you normally go and make a day of it. You could always load up your car to have a clear out too but research which one get busy, otherwise you could be going home with a whole lot more than you came with. Remember they are not always fruitful, so don’t end up buying for the sake of it.

Festival chic

Festivals can be an enjoyable way of selling, as you get to make money and hear great music at the same time. Only do these kind of events if you sell the right clobber, whether that’s trend lead vintage or maybe 40’s fashions, pick the right ones for you and your stock. So do a bit of research into what kind of people attend. If you have the right things for the right crowd you could be quid’s in. Beware our weather is not always the best, so make sure you have the right insurance and marquee for the job.

Prepare for your summer sale

It’s time for a clear-out to refresh for the Autumn, try a flash sale on social media and sell off some of the stock you have had hanging around forever. If it’s a nice sunny day it will give you a chance to get everything out on the lawn and work out what stock you have. Don’t be too precious-make sure you have your business head on.

Buy out of season: don’t let autumn creep up unawares.

It’s sad to say it but start thinking about Autumn and even Christmas, if you see things on buying trips that are a bargain, start hoarding a few things such as fur coats and Christmas decorations. Otherwise they might be harder to come across when you really want them

Take time off!

The hardest part of being your own boss is taking a holiday! Plan it now then commit to those dates. Everyone needs to relax sometimes..and you will then be raring to go for next season!
