Kate’s Vintage Thrifting

The last few weeks have been really hectic what with managing two wedding fairs and spraining my foot (ouch) so I have hardly had any time to go thrifting! I have also been immersed in my new articles for Reloved magazine so much of my buying has been on second hand and vintage craft supplies. But never fear, I have managed to snap up these lovelies.

Firstly I could not resist this vintage tin for a few reasons. Firstly I love the pattern for its retro simplicity. I also think it is a great size although for now it is simply sitting on the floor in a corner without a true purpose except for looking nice! It was bought from Vintage Things Forever which is run by Jane who I know through Facebook groups.

I also bought this Baretware biscuit barrel from her.  I have been searching for one in this pattern for ages, but wanted it to be in great condition as I want to use it for biscuits. I love the idea of the biscuit barrel, it reminds me of my grandma’s house and choosing which biscuit to have from a great loose selection. We are now firmly following this idea here at home.

While on one of my usual monthly thrifting sessions to a local charity sale I found these Carnaby Pyrex bowls to add to my collection. I have loads, all in different patterns, which I use for my daily porridge.

I also bought this cute baby blanket for Kitty’s babies.

Saving the best until last – I bought this amazing 14 carat ring. The jewel is in fact glass (oh if only it was a ruby!) but is still amazing! The colour is lush and now matches my nail varnish!!

What have you found this month?

Hi Kate! Love your vintage finds, my latest Pyrex finds have been a really cute mini Gaiety snowflake dish, 2 cottage rose soup bowls. I have a collection now all found in charity shops for bargain prices. What’s your favourite piece/pattern…I love a nice Cinderella bowl and I think cottage rose is one of my favourites now!! Love your blog!

Hi Kate, Love your blog and especially seeing your vintage finds. My latest Pyrex find was a mini gaiety snowflake bowl that I now have on my bedside shelf to put my earrings etc in! I also picked up 2 cottage rose soup bowls, I think this is my favourite pattern at the moment. What’s yours? I have a collection now and love a nice set of Cinderella bowls. One set I bought came from a 90 year old lady who had died and her son donated then to a charity shop. Let’s just say I had to have them. I was going to clean them but I can’t bring myself to as it feels like I would erase their history if I did! I looking forward to reading your next post . Happy thrifting!
