Our Fabulous Five: Welcome Spring in with some vintage home buys

The suns shining, the central heating is off (mostly) and we are all in agreement – Spring has sprung!  The change in the season makes us all feel better in ourselves and all of a sudden we want our homes to feel light, bright and airy.  Brighten up your vintage home this week with a selection of ideas for Spring 2014 – all available online now!

1.  With all those lovely Spring flowers appearing a bud vase is perfect to bring the outdoors in.  This set of 3 bottle vases in a wicker holder is just perfect to show off pretty sprigs of Crocus, Snowdrops, wild flowers and Narcissus.

2.  A great way to add colour to your wall is to invest in a 1950’s Macmillians vintage school print.  We love these at YVL and have some in our own home – they are so fun and bright and joyful!  They can usually be picked up for £15-£25 each so frame them in groups in white frames for a great fresh look.

3. Brighter days means all that pesky household dust shows up more!  Start the Spring cleaning early by investing in an enamel housekeepers box that will make that Spring cleaning a little easier.  These can also be used as a convenient storage solution for ugly cleaning products you’d rather hide away.

4.  One of the best things with the warmer weather is being able to hang your washing out on the line…its dull we know but it improves your life no end!  How about a retro peg bag made from vintage fabric to make it even better?

5.  Candy coloured ceramics always makes us feel all Springlike and a great vintage range to get into is American brand Fiesta. Dating from the 30’s and still being produced now, this line of ceramic dinnerware glazed in differing solid colours looks fabulous in any vintage home.  Opt for the pastel colour-ways such as lilac, pink, lemon and mint and make sure one of their iconic curved jugs is part of your collection!  We love this mint teapot currently available on Etsy…
