It has been another great week remembering all the now vintage things (scary!) we loved when we were young! All the photos were posted on our Your Vintage Life Facebook page and you guys shared your memories and added some great comments.
Family Tree house – Who had a tree house and figures in the 1980s? You pushed on its top and it popped into life! It even had a lift! We bought one for Kitty this year for her birthday and she loves it – we think it should be bought back!
Um Bongo – Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo allegedly. Hands up who had this fruity treat in their packed lunch boxes in the 80s? They’ve bought it back, but without all the E numbers it doesn’t taste the same!
Refreshers – Who loved Refreshers sweets? Our hand at YVL is firmly up as we loved them…who remembers putting them all in your mouth at once to get a giant fizz? Er, that’ll be just me then! You remembered them being cheap so you could buy loads with your pocket money!
Top Cat Cartoon – Loads of you remembered and loved Top Cat, Officer Dibble and cute little Benny. It may of been a cartoon version of 50’s TV show Sgt Bilko but as kids we didn’t even know what that was – we just loved it and they just don’t make cartoons like this with a laughter track on anymore! Plus I totally want a coin on a string…
Witches hat roundabout – Although some of you were brave enough to go on the witches hat at the park we at YVL weren’t!! If you sat on the higher level you were a hero to your friends. You remembered a time before lots of crazy health & safety rules when kids could be kids…but there were lots of grazed knees and elbows too!
Coloured eye-shadow – Ok, we all wore bright coloured eye shadow in the 1980s such as bright yellow, blue and pink together! We did at YVL and must have looked terrible! Ah well we all have to start somewhere…. You remembered buying it from Woolworths and putting it on secretly then having to take it off before you got home from school.
