This is my third post featuring Easter egg crafts ideas using these white plastic eggs. Today’s tutorial is how to create an Easter egg that looks like a duck egg – in two ways!
I have included links to where I bought everything too, to make it super easy for you. (affiliate links)
Materials needed:
- Plastic eggs (I chose ones that have hooks with them so they can be hung). BUY HERE. You can use real eggs but they will need to be white shelled eggs to dye properly.
- Duck egg colour spray paint. I used THIS ONE.
- Gold spray paint. BUY HERE
- Gold nail varnish. BUY HEREĀ
Equipment needed:
- Cocktail sticks (optional)
- Paint Brush
- Dust mask
- Disposable bowl
- Washing up gloves
Step 1: Wearing a mask, in a well ventilated space, spray paint the plastic eggs in the duck egg blue spray paint. Leave to dry. I did this by hanging them up from a branch outside.
Step 2: Once dry, give them a second coat. Leave to dry again.
Step 3: Spray some of the gold paint into a small bowl. Using the paintbrush, flick the paint gently onto the eggs. Leave to dry.
Step 4: For the second effect, get a bowl that can be disposed of and fill with luke warm water. It must not be too cold or too hot otherwise it will not work.
Step 5: Drop one or two drops of nail varnish into the water so it creates a film on the top. If it sinks to the bottom then the temperature is wrong.
Step 6: Wearing gloves, swoosh gently the egg under the nail varnish film. This will leave a marbled effect. Leave to dry.
