Last week I went to The Festival of Antiques at Peterborough Showground for a vintage shopping trip and bought some orange lovelies! Mostly from the same sellers too!
All of these except the Le Creuset pot, came from Holland and sold from a lovely Dutch couple (who were very patient with my daughter who re-arranged their stand into perfect lines and colour matching!).
My favourite item is the large 1960/70s Dutch Tomado vintage tin in psychedelic patterns. I have wanted one for ages in this size so was happy to find it. I have no idea where it will go and what will be stored inside – for now it is sitting on the floor beside the sideboard looking lovely.
I can never resist a basket and this small one in orange sits perfectly in my cupboard filled with goodies. I have a few now like this with food stored inside, creating a lovely pantry feel.
The biscuit tin dates from the late 1950s and already has biscuits in ready for the family to enjoy. It fits perfectly with the kitchen and I love how it breaks up the floral scheme which is everywhere.
The lunch box is also Dutch and something I just could not resist. I have no idea what I will do with it, it may just sit here with pens in! The colour is lovely and I love that it has a handle (the others there didn’t).
Finally I am using the Le Creuset pot as a planter. This came from a local charity shop and isn’t that old but hey, I couldn’t stop myself!
I also bought two striped vintage pillowcases which need a good iron before I photo them. These will go in my daughter’s bedroom which I will share soon.
What have you bought recently?

I stumbled across your website after learning that you started following me on Instagram, so I came and immediately dove in to your articles. I liked this one a lot and when I saw you mention Peterborough, I thought to myself, there’s an antique fair here in Peterborough, Ontario (Canada)? I got really excited because one, Canada does not have great vintage fairs and two, I found another Canadian vintage lover! But of course, when I looked into it, it’s a different Peterborough – you’re in the UK – and I had to remind myself that the best antique fairs are in Europe and the US and that you’d NEVER find Le Creuset in such good shape here.
Hello there in Canada! And a large BOO that you don’t have great vintage fairs! I hope you have great shops though? Kate
