The ceramic range called Gaytime by Lord Nelson sums up the retro, psychedelic vibe of the 1960s. Bright orange and purple birds and flowers on cream ceramic simply jump out at you and make you smile. Interestingly the bright patterns are on very traditional pieces such as rolling pins and measuring jugs…not really as forward as the pattern.
We have a measuring jug, tureen and string elephant which are out on show with our Cathrineholm cookware.
Lord Nelson pottery was founded as Elijah Cotton Ltd as early as 1885; they traded from the Nelson Pottery factory in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, UK. They took on the name Lord Nelson in 1913 and introduced the back stamp in the 1940s. It is said this design was a copy of Villeroy & Boch’s Acapulco range which you will see is very similar.
They have introduced a re-worked styling to this range such as this lovely handled mug, available here
Well if we haven’t convinced you here are some more lovely pieces…..
We just love the little elephant !
The storage jars and sugar shakers are the most popular amongst our customers.
