For regular readers out there, you will know that we have been refurbishing our home over the last few years. We bought a 1920s house 4 years ago, that was stuck in the 1960s. While we love this era, 1960s wiring and damp aren’t exactly desirable! Well it is almost complete with just one room to go which is the bathroom which we want to be a perfect mid century bathroom.
This has been the situation for ages now and I often have blogged about how I want this room to look (Read here). But I keep changing my mind! I swing from pretty vintage to mid-century cool, so when I was asked to represent the latter’s look for this blog I jumped at the chance to think about how I would style and decorate my bathroom (when it is eventually done!)
I have been sent a set of Christy towels to review, and I chose a mocha colour and a burnt orange which I knew would go so well with my West German pottery. I have seen amazing sink units made from 1960s teak sideboards (see how Trevose House have done just this and these colours would work so well.
The towels are so soft which is to be expected from such a quality brand and they carry the COTTON USA international trademark for quality U.S. cotton rich products
I have styled the towels with our 1970s radio and glass at the end of the bath – imagining myself relaxing in the bath after a day’s work.
I love them folded up in piles out on a shelf, imagining hotel living!
I love groups of large pots on the floor, the colours contrasting against the white suite. A must in any mid century bathroom.
I love this large letters, they add interest into any room. These are usually on my son’s bedroom wall.
Even our washing basket is vintage! All I need is a teak mirror and a sideboard. Oh and a new bathroom!
And if you want beautifully folded towels then have a look at this guide to creating perfect folding.
This is a brand collaboration – see my Disclaimer for more information.
Looks fab Kate. I am loving your unexpected colour combinations and the pile of towels feels luxurious. I adore my Christy towels… they are better than any others I have tried.
Thanks. I usually have white towels (which look grubby within five minutes with two children who love the outdoors) so I thought Id go for something different. I love them….so so soft! Kate
