Late last year we finally decorated our son, Herbie’s bedroom. Don’t get me wrong, he had a nice bedroom but it was done when he was 3 and now felt a little young for him. I featured it a long time ago here.
We wanted to create something that he could grow older with, something that would look good when he is 10 (he is about to turn 7).
My influences were America (red, white and blue) mixed with industrial, mixed with retro.
His bed isn’t new and in a way we wanted to paint it. However mixed in with other old woods it doesn’t seem so bad now. His bedding is from Next.
Adam made him a book shelf system above his bed from wood.
We bought these fab H signs from Pineapple Retro to make a montage above the bed. His shelf is made from a vintage Coke crate.
The Walt Disney quote decal is amazing! It is such a positive message that I want him to think about, from the moment he wakes.
I decoupaged his desk with 1990s Marvel comics and added handles that Adam bought on his travels in India many years ago.
The cushion was bought locally from No 38 Vintage Emporium. It is made from 1980s Star Wars fabric.
The red unit and wardrobe are from Ikea. The globe light was from Pip n Mix and we made the canvas from 1980s Spiderman fabric.
An old 1950s wooden go cart lives on his wardrobe with my old Paddington
Adam made shelves from his old pull along cart for Herbie’s vintage tin plate cars and Tonka trucks.
Even his light is 1960s which Adam found in a skip forever ago. His hooks are 1960s atomic ones. His bin is an old galvanised bucket. The giant wall clock is from the 1980s.
What do you think? We love it and it definitely would feature in my book now!
