For my latest post in my Vintage Colour Inspiration series, I am sharing the colour red. I love red as it is such a strong colour, plus there are a lot of mid century items out there in this shade. We have a few great red items in our home and here are some of my favourites.
There is a lot of red in my seven year old son’s bedroom. The whole colour scheme is red, blue and white – I was inspired by many American boys rooms that I found on Pinterest. Check out my board HERE.
It is a mixture of new and old with a bit of DIY crafted things thrown in. The giant red watch clock dates back from the 1980s. The coke crate is also vintage as are the globe, Spiderman fabric and the cart on the top of the wardrobe. The red wardrobe and sideboard are from IKEA.
Our lounge is teal with teak furniture, black leather chairs and burnt orange and amber glass. I have added some red glass into the mix especially as the tones are repeated in the Rya rug on the floor.
In the family lounge I love my jelly bean sweet dispenser that we bought from The Classic Car Boot Sale a few years ago in London. It is the focus of every child that comes round – and the best bit is they have to put in 2p to get their sweets!
I also have some ceramics in red such as this Poole Pottery plate and of course my Stockholm service.
Then of course I have some red vintage fashion! I love wearing red as I feel it works very well with my hair colour. One of my favourites is this 1960s/70s Jean Varon dress, which I recently blogged about.
.And there’s my favourite bright red 1960s Jaeger jacket and my red Lotta from Stockholm clogs.
To be honest, I could keep sharing all day as I have A LOT of red in my wardrobe. But I will leave with you my gorgeous red Miss L Fire shoes which I wore for my wedding day. These are photos from the register office day – I also wore them for the ceremony.
Oh and of course a red car which alas does not belong to us!
Do you love the colour red?
