Today I’m wearing a new dress by Tu at Sainsburys which has a real vintage vibe. Infact they have a few dresses in stock right now that are great modern versions of a classic style. And as you know I like to mix my vintage with modern, and this is a great style to do this with.
I chose this navy dress with fun white flowers on (it also comes in red) which costs £20. It is a lightweight cotton feel viscose and is made in India. It comes with a matching tie belt which I am never a fan of, they generally are unflattering so prefer to add my own belts. I have a size 12 but really should have bought a 10. They have no fitting rooms so I guessed, but I would say the fit is quite generous.
For the school run I added a vintage leather plaited belt bought years ago from a charity shop. As I ride my bike on the school run I have added black leggings and my battered Converse (which so need a wash!)
This is the perfect look for my trusty denim jacket from Next and a classic boho 1970s/80s leather saddle bag. This one I got for Christmas from the family and was bought from a local vintage shop called No 38 Vintage Emporium in Newport Pagnell. The heavy brass bangle is from the 1970s and has a William Morris design on.
But this frock can be dressed up by adding some heels and a smarter belt. I love my red Lotta from Sweden clogs; they are so comfy and are a perfect match with everything from a 1970s maxi dress to my 1950s day dresses. The blue belt was also from a charity shop.
The bag is an American Caro Nan box bag from the 1960s, one of my favourites! One of my first blogs written 5 years ago featured them!
So what do you think? I personally love the ease of this dress and look, perfect for everyday epsecially for those mummies out there doing the school run!
