To me, the current trend for succulent house plants is very retro. Remember in the 1970s when we all had huge cheese plants? We had one in a large copper coal scuttle that sat all raggedy up to the ceiling for years and years. Then there were tumbling plants sitting in three-tiered macrame, reminding us of our foreign holidays. When we set up home in the 1990s, we all had yukkas and money plants, a gentle nod back to the 1970s which was mirrored in fashion and homewares.
I kill house plants. Fact. But I thought I ought to try one more time especially as I am the proud owner of a wonderful vintage plant stand and a large collection of Dialene Better Maid plastic pots. Well, they were Adams when I met him, but until now they have sat empty.
On a recent trip to Ikea I found a fab collection of succulents at affordable prices so I went for it! They look great don’t they?
Oh Kate! I LOVE your vintage plant stand. It’s given me the inspiration to go search out some authentic plant pots now. Thanks for another wonderful post. 🙂 xx
Thanks hon x
That plant stand is beautiful Kate, aldi recently had succulents and cacti in stock for a couple of pounds each.
