Orla Kiely’s vintage style shoes

Who out there loves a vintage shoe? But how hard is it to find them in your size especially those that are not worn down within an inch of their lives? There are more brands popping up designing great vintage style shoes such as Miss L Fire and Agnes and Norman but all are very 1940s and 1950s inspired. I, however also love the 1960s and 1970s so great news everyone – Clarkes have teamed up with Orla Kiely to produce a fab new range of footwear that team up perfectly with a maxi or a mini. They have just introduced their Autumn Winter range and we love it!

Clarkes proudly say:

“After launching her fashion line in 1997, Orla Kiely’s playful and retro designs became favourites of the British fashion set —and our design team at Clarks. After the sell-out success of our S/S collaboration, we’ve teamed up with the designer again to create a winter collection featuring her signature quirky silhouettes and our famous craftsmanship. Showcased at Orla’s London show in February, the shoes got rave reviews. Says Orla: ‘I love what Clarks stand for and I have a nostalgic association with them from childhood. To combine fashion and comfort for me is perfect so I was very excited to work with them again.’

The Autumn/winter collection started life on the floor of our design studio. ‘Orla came down with a bag of vintage shoes and tipped them out,’ says designer Adrienne. From the start, the brief was clear. The shoes had to be retro, but not from a recognisable decade. The shape had to be slim with one blocky heel from low to high. And everything had to have a strap and outsize buckle.

The result: a capsule collection of shoes with big personalities. A little bit 60s, a little bit 70s; part geek chic, part party shoe. All larger than life; all in the sort of delicious colours you’d expect from Orla Kiely. And all beautifully made by Clarks.”

These are my personal favourites:

Orla shoes Dotty

These Dotty T bar’s have the 40s feel but with a chunky late 60s/early 70s vibe to them. I love the mustard colour and would wear them with cream tights and a mini skirt!

I also love the Dotty in the claret suede and leather…..these are on my Christmas list!

The Dora navy and green leather flat loafer will look great with jeans but also a vintage midi skirt. I love the way she’s mixed high shine with the faux pony skin

These shoe boots called Dilly are on trend but also work in a retro way. I love the cream contrast for that 60s monochrome look.

Finally how about a pair of Daphne Chelsea boots in ox blood leather? Wear with skinny jeans and a vintage blouse.
