For Fashion Friday this week I’m wearing a vintage dress which has not fitted for me for years. I always kept it, as it had no major resale value and I liked it. Which is how it should be really – loving something for what it is rather than what it is worth.
It is an un-named 1970s dress in a slight faded aubergine colour. I like the fit of the dress which is a simple one. It nips in at the waist and has an A line skirt. The sleeves are long and it has a tie at the neck.
The tie is not long enough to tie a bow so I always leave it in a knot.
It has a matching tie belt but next to the tie neck feels too much so I have added a modern studded belt from Primark. The trilby hat is also from there.
I’m wearing it with a preloved Monsoon velvet jacket which I bought about 12 years ago. I have been buying from them since the mid 1990s as I worked for them for many years. I love the boho style of this jacket, with its shape and also the over stitched pattern.
I am wearing chocolate brown suede and leather shoes which I bought from a charity shop a few weeks ago. They are in such lovely condition and are by Peter Kaiser. To be honest I had never heard of this brand but turns out they are worth £100 and I bought them for a £1…Get In!
The handbag is my vintage leather Gladstone bag which I have been using for the last week. It makes such a good winter bag and it is so roomy!
I do love this look and am enjoying my autumn wardrobe! (I am not however loving the reduced light which is why my photos are a bit grainy!) What do you think?
