Last week I went to London to deliver a seminar at London Edge as part of Vintage Academy which I founded with Keeley Harris back in 2013. It was a great experience and I especially enjoyed the chance to go vintage dress shopping afterwards! Behind the main street in Islington there are is a row of vintage and antique shops with a few market stalls dotted in between, all hidden away from view.
We were too late for the market as they were packing away…but then again that is always the best time to try to grab a few bargains! We found a stall with a £5 rail so we quickly dived in and I bought three things!
The find of the day was this 1950s cotton day dress for yes, a fiver! The colours are great for this time of year as can be worn with brown tights and a woolly cardigan. Of course for £5 it isn’t perfect with a wear on the edges, a few marks in the pattern and a small tear on the pleated part but to be honest, if perfect this would have been £70+.
I have worn it already quite a few times with my brown brogues and denim jacket.
It also looks quite good with a belt; this one is a chunky leather style from Jigsaw, bought about 12 years ago.
I used my brown leather satchel that day too.
And as it got a lot colder throughout the day, I added a Top Shop coral bow knit.
What a bargain huh? I will share the other £5 vintage bargains over the next few weeks.
Are you ready for Autumn? Bought any new or old autumnal fashion in the last few weeks?
