When I wear my vintage dresses I often have problems finding modern shoes that sit well alongside them. I do love “actual” vintage shoes but finding them in a size 7 is not easy, and some of the vintage reproduction styles, while fabulous, aren’t quite right for me and sometimes are a bit pricey. Today I have teamed up with Simply Be, to share some of my favourite styles of theirs, to wear alongside your vintage fashion which I have grouped by era to make life easy for you!
1930s
What’s not to love about this vintage style shoe boot. It has embroidery, orange ribbon and a black velvet finish!
1940s
1940s slip on shoes often came in brown or back but I am loving these deep red velvet versions with their contrasting heel. They would look fab with a 1940s suit or tea dress.
1950s
The perfect shoe to wear with your 1950s day dress is a wedge and these red and white striped ones are perfect. They will also work well with a pair of wide leg trousers. I love the espadril finish too which are always really comfortable.
1960s
The 1960s were all about the mini skirt, often teamed up with coloured tights and long Go Go boots. Also popular were mod shoes in two tone patent, or a ballerina pump. I love both of these for a 60s vibe; the blocked heel of this gold shoe would work perfectly with pale tights,
And the two tone toe of this pump would look great with a 1960s capri pant.
1970s
The 1970s saw the wedge return and I love these gold ones, as they remind me of the disco vibes popular in the decade too.
I also love the Fleetwood Mac boho vibes of the 1970s and these embroidered boots would be fabulous teamed up with your vintage kimono! They have shoes to match too, plus the boots come in extra wide fit too.
1980s
The 1980s saw us all wearing court shoes with a pointed toe, something we wore again in the noughties (mainly with a kitten heel). These leopard shoes would work perfectly with a 1980s does 1950s pencil skirt.
I love metallic shoes and these silver ones are lush!
1990s
My shoes of choice in the 1990s was a pair of army boots but I also wore my trusty Dr Martens, bought second hand. I literally loved in them! I regret ever throwing them away as they were so nicely worn! To get the 1990s grunge look team these bad boys with a ditsy floral dress and velvet choker!
