Vintage Colour Inspiration: Purple

It’s the fourth week in my vintage colour inspiration series and today I am featuring the colour purple. When I was a goth back in the late 1980s, I loved purple. I had an amazing crushed velvet midi skirt that to be honest, I wish I still had! However, now my home is anything but purple.

Except my bedroom of course.

The story goes that someone found it in their loft and sent it into them. I love that is is covered in 1950s style ladies in their New Look shapes.

Mine has my vintage box bags inside, to keep them away from the kids sticky fingers. All these styles are very different: a 1970s Old Hall stainless steel candle stick with its purple Whitefriars glass top doesn’t really go with my patterned Poole Pottery vase. But do you know what…..I don’t care! If you love it, go for it!

This glass piggy bank is the same as a green one I shared in my green colour feature. It is made by Lindshammar in Sweden. They don’t have stoppers to the base but you are expected to smash the glass when full. Er, I don’t think so!

I love this blue ceramic lamp with its original shade which sits in the hallway. It has purple flowers within the design.
