It’s week three in my vintage colour inspiration series and this week I have chosen a colour that isn’t seen much in my home; the colour pink. When I met my husband, Adam, I had a lot of pink in my home but this has reduced ever since. Not that he hated it, or thought it was too girly, but instead it was his love of orange which seemed to take over!
My spare room doubles up as my dressing room so feels like my space therefore all my pink art glass appears here. In fact, the first piece of glass I bought which triggered my love of vintage homewares was a pink M’dina bowl from Malta. This sits on my mirrored Laura Ashley dressing table filled with vintage clip on earrings.
My love affair with vintage glass grew from this point on, resulting in LOADS of pink and cranberry glass.
The wallpaper in this room is also pink – bright pink! It came with the house and is original 1960s wallpaper which we fell in love with on viewing the house. It of course, needed to be saved and still hangs in this room.
I have also saved some samples of vintage wallpaper to frame. This pink Sanderson cut out was the original FiFi wallpaper designed in the 1950s and found lining a dressing table in a house clearance. As we have the reproduction paper in our bedroom I was pretty excited to find and save this. The frame is from IKEA.
I also love this rock of pink quartz crystal, that was Adams before I met him. The stone represents love and really reminds me of the 1990s when I wore a chunk of it around my neck. It now sits on the spare room bedside table.
The vintage eiderdown was bought to appear in my book. I kept it afterwards and now sits on my modern John Lewis throw.
I also have quite a few items of pink vintage clothing. I especially love this floaty mini dress which Adam bought me from the Clothes Show’s Vintage Village and gave me for Christmas as few years ago.
And of course I have loads of pink jewellery and a few handbags. I really love this delicate vintage bell necklace which I bought from ebay.
There are a few glimpses of pink elsewhere in my home, but not a lot! My vintage cocktail glass collection is so big that there has to be some pink! I love these sundae dishes (alas only 3) and have used them for serving dips/starters before. The pink decanter is fabulous too, but as a teetotal girl, just sits in my cabinet looking pretty!
And to be honest that is about it! Having a little girl does mean that other bits of pink crop up here and there although her room is actually duck egg and lilac. She also has a pink eiderdown on her bed to match mummy’s
Do you have much pink in your home? Or has orange taken over? Do share!
