I have to admit that I love Monsoon. I worked for them throughout the 90s and have recently rediscovered them due to spending more time at St Pancras station due to my consultancy work. I love their boho style which is something I am embracing more and more as I find myself mixing modern and vintage together to create more of a 70s look.
So imagine how happy I was when they knocked on my inbox door, inviting me to choose an outfit to show to you all. I thought it was going to be dead easy to choose, but with so much choice across womenswear, kidswear and homewares, it took a little time. Should I choose an outfit for my daughter, something for our lounge or treat myself. Well, this bad mummy chose herself!
First up is this gorgeous Galaxy skirt from their Fusion range. The website describes this range as “Fusion is a unique capsule collection of exquisite fashion-forward designs that capture the eclectic spirit of Monsoon; contemporary dresses are lavished with beautiful embellishment, while luxe tops, skirts and co-ords make for perfect party pieces.”
It has a real 1950s vibe to it with its tight waist, midi length and flared shape which is what drew me to it in the first place. The fabric is a blue and purple jacquard which reminds me a bit of the 1980s with its slight disco feel. It flatters my shape and makes me feel great!
It comes with a matching top but I felt that it would be far too matchy matchy for my liking so I chose a simple white pussy bow blouse which would really make the skirt stand out. The Pixie blouse has short sleeves and an embroidered polka dot within the fabric. I have added a cute vintage brooch to add some colour.
I’ve teamed it up with my Miss L Fire blue suede shoes and my Midas of Miami vintage handbag.
The blouse also looks great worn with skinny jeans so is a real versatile piece. However I wanted to vintage it all up a little bit more! I added a cute 1950s blue lace jacket for an evening look.
And then a purple silk vintage blouse and a matching flower crown for a great day to evening look. I love the fact that blue and purple have been teamed up; it’s an unsusual combo but I love it!
What do you think? Everyone on Twitter seems to love this skirt and I reckon it will be worn for years.
