In todays vintage nostalgia blog read all of Your Vintage Life’s ‘Do you Remember’ posts from this week. As ever, we had fun reading your comments! and recollections! So, what do you remember…?
Altogether now…”PIGS IN SPAAAACCCCCE!” We used to love watching the Muppets back in the day…Miss Piggy was amazing! Great songs, fantastic special guests and the magic of the late great Jim Henson. Yes, we still have the movies but we do miss the show…
Who remembers sitting in an old wooden swing with coloured wooden beads back in the 1970s, held by what feels like a thin rope? These were often tied onto trees – doesn’t look that safe to us!!!
Back in the 70’s, lots of girls rode a bike like this with a tartan carry bag on the back. Pedalling around for hours on end in the days where kids stayed outside for hours on end we loaded it up with Sindy dolls, sweets, comics and anything else we could fit in there.
Still on a bike theme, who remembers these trikes when they were little? Nowadays they are chunky plastic and have a pull along handle for the adults, but we love these retro designs.
Friday at 5pm used to be the time for Crackerjack. It ran for almost 30 years and whether you were an Eamonn Andrews, Leslie Crowther, Michael Aspel, Ed “Stewpot” Stewart or a Stu “ooh I could crush a grape” Francis child, we all loved it. Remember the Double or Drop game with the cabbages? Mad cap British kids TV at its best!
Did you go to the cinema to watch Footloose and then fall in love with Kevin Bacon? Amazing music that everyone remembers but loads of you had never watched this 1984 gem! Its the story of a Chicago teen who moves to a small town in which, as a result of a strict local local minister dancing and rock music have been banned. We love an 80’s film classic for our vintage nostalgia!
