Upcycled painted crystal for your dressing table

Pressed coloured glass dressing table sets were popular in the 1920s and 1930s, often made in Czechoslovakia. Comprising of a glass tray in a pastel colourway alongside candle sticks, perfume bottles and jewellery pots; this was a glamorous look for any ladies’ bedroom. As these become rarer, why not recreate the look by painting crystal and glassware found in charity shops and the back of your cupboard in colours to compliment your bedroom!

HOW TO MAKE THIS PROJECT

Step 1: Wash the glass thoroughly and dry fully

Step 2: Decide whether you are going to paint the inside of the glass or outside. I chose to spray inside on some and outside on others to create a layered effect on my dressing table.

Step 3: Cover the side you are not spraying in masking tape fully. Don’t leave any gaps.

Step 4: Wearing a protective face mask, in a well-ventilated room or outside carefully spray the glass. Leave to dry.
