Do you Remember?

Read all of Your Vintage Life’s ‘Do you Remember’ nostalgia posts from Facebook this week.  We had fun sharing and you had fun commenting!  So, what do you remember…?

So who remembers watching the wonderful Rod Hull and Emu? As kids we thought they were so funny whether attacking talk show hosts in in the Big Pink Windmill and reckon kids would love it still today – he is definitely missed!  All together now – “There’s somebody at the door, oh there’s somebody at the door…!”

Do you remember the Barbapapa and his family of 7 kids back in the 70s? The books were an ever popular memory plus we learnt it means Candy Floss in French…barbe à papa.

Did you use to read and watch the Moomins?  Originating in Scandinavia, the first book was published just after the second world war and many children have loved it over the years.  Gentle, cute and adventurous – there so much to love about the Moomin family.  Plus for retro lovers there are some beautiful products with all the illustrations on now too.

If you weren’t old enough to stay up, Saturday afternoon the time to watch the Brookside omnibus. Who was your favourite family: the Corkhills? The Jordache’s? The Grants?  A soap that dealt with some serious stuff and had some great storylines.

You may of had the toy tree house, you may of had the teapot house, but who had the Matchbox toy boot school house?  It helped you learn to tie your laces, had a set of figures and even its own playground.1911886_719605628059528_65931298_n

We loved Kim Wilde back in the early 80s. We loved her look – a bit Debbie Harry, a bit pop starlet and we loved her songs…’Kids in America’ was such a great tune.  Many of you had a poster of her on your walls too!
