Our Vintage Life

As ever it’s been a busy 2 weeks, so busy that I haven’t managed to write this regular post. We’ve traded at 2 fairs: Milton Keynes’s Handmade and Vintage fair and The Vintage Home Show in Manchester.

The first one was a 2 day event near where we live which is always a bonus. We love this fair as it’s such a great opportunity to meet local traders as well as local customers. It’s a great opportunity to advertise our other site: Vintage Bedford and MK, which everyone always seems so happy to discover. We were selling our vintage fashion and our best sellers by far were vintage shoes. We sold so many pairs…everyone in the local area now has some great footwear including these Bally 1980s leather pumps!

Then we all went up to Manchester to sell our mid-century furniture and homewares. We love this event as the customers are just so excited! First things to sell were these little chaps…to the same man, who proudly showed them off on Twitter that night.

The Tretchikoff print also was soon snapped up, to my dismay! I really wanted to keep it, but a sale is a sale!

It’s held in Victoria Baths which is an old swimming pool dating back to the Victorian era. It is so beautiful: the kids enjoyed pretending to swim in the empty pool. Here’s Kitty in the old changing rooms.

As ever I went buying at this event: I bought this wooden shelf which I think looks great on the Ercol sideboard. It will hold our cookery books.

I also bought this Norwegian Egersund plate to hang on the wall: the colours match the kitchen brilliantly.

We were shortlisted for the National Vintage Awards so a huge thank you for voting for us. The ceremony is in a few weeks so cannot wait to glam up and have a night out (especially without the children which is rare!)

We had a great mention in Homes and Antiques magazine as a great place to buy vintage kitchenalia. The styling in the shoot is stunning and makes me want a 1950s kitchen (even though I have a new kitchen installed just weeks ago!)

There have been great business meetings discussing plans for the future…it’s all secret right now…but watch this space!!!

On a personal note…Herbie has been awarded a certificate for his loyalty and for being a good role model….proud mummy will be gushing at assembly later today!

It’s been a week of being in the wars too: Herbie fell off his scooter into our 1956 Morris Oxford car and ripped his ear open…next stop was A & E to be glued back together. He then fell down the stairs 3 days later….. Here’s the Morris used in a photo shoot a few years back.

And finally……we are embarking on the next phase of the business. Your Vintage Life is going into new premises where you will be able to shop til you drop with us! More to come next week….

Eeeek, exciting times ahead…..
