Our Vintage Life

Most of the week has been filled with prepping vintage stock for two great fairs that we love to do.

The first was the Furniture Flea in Bethnal Green, London. It is crammed to the rafters with affordable mid century furniture and home wares and we are a regular there since the start.

Mr YVL having his brekkie on our 1950s kitchen table before the early bird trade arrive!

We took our usual array of teak…but this time we started to sell our haberdashery. We have collected cottons and braiding for years, especially as one of our best selling lines is sewing boxes. When we buy them they are often full of vintage bits and bobs which we have literally stored for years.

Most items were only 50p.

We always take the children to the V&A Museum of Childhood which is next door. With free entry, more vintage toys than you can ever imagine and activities for the kids to do; it really is the perfect Sunday afternoon treat.

It is filled with toys from the 19th century through to more recent times. Think Chad Valley metal toys…

or Star Wars toys…

That was last Sunday. This weekend it is the Festival of Vintage at York racecourse. We are styling a 1960s lounge roomset so we have been busy choosing accessories to sit alongside the furniture. Shall we go early 60s; tables with screw on legs and atomic ball
