OOTD: MK’s 1940s weekend

Today was a fab day! The whole family downed tools and went out for the day (literally…Mr YVL put down his spade and I closed the laptop). We went to Milton Keynes museum who are hosting a 1940s weekend today and tomorrow. Read all about it on our sister site here.

Not only was it a great day out and a chance to review the day for Vintage Bedford & MK…but I was also interviewing Lola Lamour for one of our “Favourite Era” blog posts.

The sun shone…but what to wear, especially as I don’t really own much 1940s clothing?

I ended up wearing a cream fine crochet vintage dress. It has a pale blue edging and a tie waist.

I teamed it up with my red Gabriella Miss L Fire shoes worn on my wedding day.

I chose my 1940s Plastiflex red early plastic clutch bag. I rarely use this one so I was pleased to get it out of the handbag trunk.

First stop there was to the vintage hair parlour. Sarah Doo Wop Do’s sorted me out with my victory rolls. I chose a poppy in my hair.

Mr YVL wore his 1950s trousers which belonged to his Uncle George.

It was a lot of fun and whats more I bought an amazing emerald green dressing gown/robe..I will leave that for another post!

Other highlights: Herbie met a policeman!

Dress: Vintage (I can’t remember where I bought it from!!)

Shoes: Miss L Fire

Bag: eBay, vintage

Poppy: Accessorize
