Organising the Festival of Vintage
In 2011 I decided to think big! I set about launching my first vintage festival with music, cars, dancing and amazing vintage traders.
Arranging a large event comes with lots of responsibility; requires great planning, bags of energy and nerves of steel. No matter how many times I have held an event in the past; each one needs to be treated with the same care and attention to make it a fantastic experience for the sellers and visitors alike. Check lists are essential and a clipboard for everything from plans to timetables keeps all the details at my finger tips
Arriving on the day of the event at York Racecourse at 5:30am, there is often a feeling of calm before the storm, a chance to gather your thoughts before everything starts to happen. Buildings need to opened, ticket gates and signage needs to be setup. Then come the exhibitors and contractors, with only 4 hours to setup everyone needs to be allocated their space quickly.
I spend most of this time dashing from one building to another, dealing with any last minute touches and tweaks. The event could not run without the support of a great team of friends and family, who all have a list of jobs to do. Delegation is not easy but essential sometimes!
